Muscadet Sèvre & Maine Sur Lie

Appellation: Appellation d'Origine Muscadet Sèvre & Maine Contrôlée

Name of the wine: AOC Muscadet Sèvre & Maine Sur Lie

Origin: Pays de Loire France

Winegrower’s note: Our soils are of high quality as they drain extremely well and retain sufficient moisture to feed the vines. These are the great historic terroirs of the appellation

Colour: White

Tasting notes:

  • Eye: sustained, brilliant pale yellow.
  • Nose: Highly complex, expressing the mineral and white peach aromas that illustrate the presence of a great terroir.
  • Mouth: Full, silky, concentrated and of good maturity, with delightful citrus fruit and white blossom aromas.

Alcohol content: 12°

Serving suggestions: Shellfish, fish, white meats, goat’s cheese.

Grape varieties: Melon de Bourgogne 100 %

Age of the vines: 40 years

Growing techniques: Meticulous work on the vines prior to the harvest (short pruning, leaf thinning, bunch thinning…). The grapes are picked at full ripeness.

Bottling: There’s no rush to market our Muscadets, we give all our wines an extended 14-month maturing period to increase aromatic potential and fullness of taste. Let time do its work...

This means that we have a stock; the wines are generally marketed after tastings, which allows us to sell the wine with the most definite character.

Temperature: 8 to 10°C

Laying down: Up to 2 years for its young characteristics, and longer to obtain a wine with a long laying-down potential.

These are the different bottles and labels for our Cuvée de Vielles Vignes,
which is made from vines over 40 years old.

Here we have an illustration of our Estate wines:

  • Prestige de l'Enclos,
  • Domaine de Chantegrolle.
