History of Domaine Poiron Dabin
In living memory, the Poiron and Dabin families have always grown vines. We have a solicitor’s deed relating to the sharing of parcels of vines in 1858. In 1962 Jean POIRON married Thérèse DABIN. They brought prosperity to Domaine de L'Enclos by buying up a number of small vineyards and restructuring the estate.
A few key stages:
- In 1970, purchase of Clos du Château de la Verrie
- In 1990, purchase of Domaine de Chantegrolle with its cellars and 12 hectares of vines. This enabled Laurent & Jean-Michel to move in in turn and work with their father, Jean, until he retired in 1999. Thérèse carried on working on the estate, occupying an administrative position until December 2004.
- In 2004, Laurent & Jean-Michel combined their two separate estates and took up the opportunity of extending their operation with Clos des Tabardières (previously owned by Château de l’Aulnay opposite the confluence of the Sèvre & Maine rivers). Sandrine, Jean-Michel’s wife, who had worked with him since they married in 1990, took over from Thérèse in 2004.
Today, these magnificent vineyards extend over 67 hectares around the L’Enclos and Chantegrolle estates.
